Abstract

The purpose of this study was to present the socio-economic factors affecting the talent identification of elite karate athletes in Iran. Due to the exploratory nature of the subject, the qualitative research method was used. Then, until reaching the stage of saturation of theory and data, interviews with 16 karateka experts who are aware of the subject of the research were continued purposefully. In axial coding, the final marks were classified into 13 concepts and 3 categories. Finally, the main categories identified from the selected coding, including the level of education and awareness of parents, parental support and the level of income of parents were determined. The theoretical model arising from the findings of the present study can in the process of talent identification and identification of talented people for this sport, in order to avoid wasting time and money, in the first stage to address the sociological issue and the categories and subcategories of socio-economic capital And then examine other physiological, biomechanical, etc. factors
