Abstract

The spectators as well as athletes are the main customers of sports, whose motivation for participating in sports competitions is of great importance. The aim of this study was thus to determine the motivations for the presence of Iranian spectators in Volleyball Nations League and its relationship with background, amount and renewed presence. The present research was descriptive. The statistical population were all the spectators of the Iran’s national team in Iran-Germany match in the preliminary rounds of Volleyball Nations League (2018). Of all the sepctators, 372 people were selected as the statistical sample using Krejcie and Morgan’s table. The presence motivation questionnaire and renewed presence questionnarie were used for data collection. The validity of the questionnaires was confirmed by 8 sports management experts. The reliability coefficient was obtained using Cronbach's alpha 0.87 and 0.70 respectively. Binomial test, Pearson correlation, simple and multiple regressions were used to analyze the data. The results showed that the presence motivations have only a significant relationship with willingness to renewed presence and motivation components are capable of predicting the willingness to renewed presence. According to the findings of the study, it can be concluded that the more managers enhacne and focus on motivational factors of spectators, the more they can expect spectators’ increased willingness to renewed presence.
